I would go into the mission field when God says, "It is your time." Till then, I'll be praying and waiting patiently, while doing the littlest bit that I am capable of.
I love children. I love being part of their growth and development. I love seeing their lives change for the better.
I wish for a newborn to have 'parents' who specially choose his name.
The Lord says, "... I have called you by your name; You are Mine." -Isaiah 43:1
I wish for the child to receive from his parents gifts of love rather than HIV.
Jesus says, "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven..." -Matthew 7:11
I wish for an orphan to have a mother who picks up her favourite dress.
The Heavenly Father says, "I have removed your iniquity from you, and I will clothe you with rich robes.” -Zechariah 3:4
I have yet to have human kids, but I'd love to give hope to a child. So when I was considering child sponsorship, World Vision Malaysia immediately came to mind.
Personally, World Vision Malaysia is not a stranger to me. Working with Hannah Tan (behind the hannah t brand) in 2008, I was privileged to collaborate with World Vision Malaysia for her Christmas chari-t CD album, where 50% of the proceeds was channelled to World Vision Malaysia.
World Vision has been operating in Malaysia since 1997 with the main objective of raising funds for, and awareness of impoverished children and communities globally. Today, World Vision Malaysia funds 33 Area Development Programmes in 12 countries, thanks to the generous Malaysians who believe a better world starts with 'me'.
Do you have RM1.70 a day to spare?
Child sponsorship starts from as low as RM50 per month, of which the contribution will be used to develop the community of your child.
Do you have RM2.70 a day to spare?
On top of the RM50, give additional RM30 per month to help World Vision prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and care for the affected/infected around the world.
Do you have a little a day to spare?
Make a donation, your gift will provide assistance and relief in areas where the need is greatest.
Find out how they are changing lives and how you can make a difference too.
Even if you are not contributing through these channels, offering help to your friends and the people in your community count as well. For instance, at Good News Christian Fellowship, we are undertaking an ongoing mission to give to the poor as a church, and individually, we are saving at least 30 sen a day from 1 January - 31 December 2011. There are many little ways you can contribute, just be creative and most importantly, be initiative.
Alternatively, you may contribute through UNICEF Malaysia and they will put any amount of donation to good use. No matter how small or large the donation is.
You may enjoy a Premier Class movie at RM12, but that amount can also buy a thick blanket to protect children during emergencies.
You may be enjoying broadband at RM60 a month, but the same amount is equivalent to 35 doses of measles vaccines to protect children.
You may buy a decent mobile phone at RM800, but that amount will get a 'School-in-the-Box' for 80 children to continue schooling.
Spend your money wisely. The money you spend may satisfy your want, or it may meet a child's need. Change a life, and you change your life too...

Be encouraged by Matthew 25:34-36 ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’
Happy making a difference!
